We want you to be able to see the colors of our yarns as they actually
are. However, not all monitors can see colors as they actually are. If
you follow the steps below you can adjust your monitor to as close to perfect
as it can be in five easy steps, even if you have little computer experience.
1) Take a look at the colors to the left. You should
be able to see a slight difference in color in each square. If you do not
see this difference your monitor might not be set on true colors (see
fix 1). |
| |
2) The square all the way to the right should be a very
light grey, not white. The square all the way to the left should be a very
dark grey, not black. If these don't appear correctly you need to adjust
your brightness (see fix 2).

3) These boxes should be different colors. If this looks
like a black strip to you then you need to raise your saturation (see
fix 3).
These boxes should be different colors. If they
look like white to you then you need to raise your saturation (see
fix 3).

4) This strip should be white. If they have a color
then you need to adjust the color (see fix 4).

5) The colors in this strip should be yellow, not at
all green or orange.
The colors in this strip should be blue, not at
all green or purple. If these do not appear correct you need to adjust
the color (see fix 4).
If all this appears correct then your monitor should
be fine. If there are problems please go below for instructions on how
to fix them.
How to fix it:
Fix 1) How to adjust the color settings: Right click
on your desktop (not on an icon) and choose properties. Click on the Settings
tab. Color quality should be set on 32 bit. If there is no 32 bit option
then your monitor may not be high enough quality to see the site well.
16 bit will work, but expect some color variations. If you only have 256
colors you will not be able to see our colors. Older monitors, laptops
and flat monitors may not be high enough quality to see these colors no
matter what the setting.
Fix 2) Adjusting the Brightness: The box on the left
should be light gray. If it is white you need to lower your brightness.
The box on the right should be a very dark grey. If it is black you need
to lower your brightness. The method for changing brightness varies with
the brand of your monitor. You should have a brightness button on the monitor,
or a wheel on the monitor. If it is a wheel then push it in and move it
around until you can change brightness. Your user's manual will help.

Fix 3) Adjusting Saturation: If you can't see color
in these two strips You need to raise the saturation until you can see
colors, but only dimly.
If this box changes from white to a color while
you are adjust the saturation you have gone too far.
The method for changing saturation varies
with the brand of your monitor. You should have a saturation button on
the monitor, or a wheel on the monitor. If it is a wheel then push it in
and move it around until you can change saturation. Your user's manual
will help.
Fix 4 and 5) If these colors are off you might have
to play with your monitor a little. First see if your monitor has a hue
button or if a hue setting comes up when you push the wheel on your monitor
(if it has one). Move the hue back and forth until the colors look correct.
If you don't have a hue button see if you have a color button or red/green/blue
buttons. Again, if you have a wheel push it in and look for these settings.
Then raise or lower the colors in question until the bars look right.
If your monitor is old and can not be adjusted try to take these color
variations into account when you look at our yarns.
